This first-of-its-kind model brings the
existing Youth Venture approach into the school--retaining the message
of youth decision-making and control, while reaching a broader base of
students.
United
Way Youth Venture invests in young people ages 12-20 to launch a
community-benefiting club, organization or business – a Venture. We
encourage youth to identify a problem in their community and fix it by
pairing it with a passion of their own – allowing youth to see that
community service is not a chore. We provide each team of emerging
leaders up to $1,000 in seed funding through a competitive process. We
also offer them continual guidance and support, and link them into a
global network of like minded youth as they turn ideas into reality.
